The construction of the Victory bridge began in 1941, and the official opening took place on November 25, 1945. Notably, German prisoners of war—brought to Armenia after the end of the Battle of Stalingrad in 1943—participated in the construction of the bridge.
Victory Bridge connects the center of Yerevan—Mashtots Avenue—with the Malatia-Sebastia district, and further leads to Zvartnots Airport and the city of Vagharshapat.

The name of the bridge was no coincidence—it was chosen to symbolize the Soviet Union’s victory over Nazi Germany during the Great Patriotic War.
In Soviet times, the bridge was considered one of the largest in the country. It stretches approximately 200 meters in length and reaches a height of 34 meters. The structure rests on three large arches, linking the opposite banks of the Hrazdan River.
