Zvartnots Airport is 9 km from the center of Yerevan. That is 20 minutes by car – which means even a 4-hour layover is enough to see the city properly. This tour is built specifically for travelers in transit: airport pickup, a private guide, the five landmarks that actually represent Yerevan, and a drop-off wherever you need – back at the airport, your hotel, or the bus station. No wasted time, no group waiting, no fixed departure. Just the city, at the pace your schedule allows.
1. Our guide can meet you either at the airport or in the city center, and your first stop will be the Cascade. The guide will tell you what the Cascade is, how many stairs it has, and about the construction of this architectural complex that connects the center of Yerevan with the northern district. From here, a magnificent view of the city opens up.
2. Next, the route leads to the Alexander Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet Theater, which is another wonder of Armenian architecture. It has a round shape with two concert halls.
3. After that, we will visit the famous Northern Avenue. It is a modern pedestrian street and one of the most favorite places for tourists, street musicians, and artists, because this avenue connects the two main squares of the city. Here you can visit shops and also try Armenian and international dishes in the cafes along the entire street.
4. From there, we will visit Republic Square of the city of Yerevan and all of Armenia, which has existed for several centuries and was designed by the architect Alexander Tamanyan. The square is one of the most famous landmarks of the city.
5. And finally, we will go to the open-air market Vernissage, where you will find exclusive Armenian handmade masterpieces, souvenirs, and works of art. This is an open-air fair in the city center where you can buy gifts both for yourself and for your family and friends.
6. Instead of touring Yerevan, you may also choose to visit the Holy City of Etchmiadzin, located only 15 minutes from the airport. Here you can explore the ancient Etchmiadzin Cathedral and the treasures of its museum, where sacred relics are preserved. You will also see the beautiful churches of St. Gayane and St. Ripsime, each with its own remarkable history. The route continues to the impressive Zvartnots ruins, a UNESCO-listed masterpiece and one of Armenia’s most iconic sights. This program offers a deep cultural and spiritual insight into Armenia — all within a single day.
At your request, the guide will drop you off either at the airport or at any place you choose. A tour in one day is a wonderful opportunity to see the most beautiful places in Armenia.
Most layover tours rush you through a checklist. This one is private, which means if you want to spend longer at the Cascade or skip the Vernissage because you’ve been before, you can. The guide speaks English and Russian, knows the city deeply, and can adjust the route on the spot based on your interests and how much time you actually have. If your layover is shorter than expected, we cut the route. If it’s longer, we add stops.
All private tours can be changed upon request.
Zvartnots Airport is approximately 9 km from the city center — about 20 minutes by car in normal traffic. This makes even a 3–4 hour layover enough time for a meaningful city tour.
Yes. Your guide meets you at the arrivals hall at Zvartnots Airport at the time you specify. At the end of the tour you can be dropped off back at the airport, your hotel, or any other location.
Because this is a private tour, the route adjusts to your actual available time. If your layover is 2 hours instead of 4, the guide prioritizes the highlights — typically the Cascade and Republic Square — and gets you back to the airport with time to spare.
Yes. Etchmiadzin is only 15 minutes from the airport and makes an excellent alternative for travelers with a spiritual or cultural interest. The route covers Etchmiadzin Cathedral, St. Gayane, St. Hripsime, and the Zvartnots ruins — all UNESCO-listed sites.
