Wings of Tatev is the longest reversible aerial tramway in the world. Its length is 5.7 km, and it connects the village of Halidzor with the medieval Tatev Monastery. The cableway is situated in the Syunik region, about a 4-hour drive from Yerevan.
The ride offers a breathtaking view of the Vorotan Gorge, Tatev Anapat, Devil’s Bridge, and the Tatev Monastery nestled on a high, inaccessible plateau.
The total ride time from Halidzor to Tatev Monastery is about 12 minutes. If the same road were taken by car, it would take around 40 minutes along the steep serpentine road that follows the Vorotan Gorge.
The aerial tramway cabin reaches a maximum height of 320 meters, with each cabin accommodating 30 passengers, allowing the transport of up to 240 passengers per hour at a maximum speed of 10 m/s. Powerful pillars divide the ropeway into 4 sections, the longest of which is 2.7 km and overlooks the Tatev Monastery. The manufacturer is Doppelmayr/Garaventa Group (Austria, Switzerland).

The Wings of Tatev (Tatever) was built within the framework of the Tatev Revival Project and was officially launched in 2010 with the efforts of Ruben Vardanyan and Veronika Zonabend. That same year, it set the Guinness World Record for the longest non-stop reversible aerial tramway. Wings of Tatev is a non-commercial project, and all profits are invested in the restoration of the medieval Tatev Monastery.
