Dendropark is located in Gyulagarak village, Lori region, in the north of Armenia, about a two-hour drive from Yerevan. It sits at an altitude of around 1,500 meters above sea level, making it a cool and refreshing destination year-round.

Dendropark was established in 1931 by Polish engineer Edmund Leonowicz, who aimed to create a native forest enriched with exotic species. It covers around 35 hectares, including approximately 17 hectares of natural forest and 15 hectares of planted ornamental areas.

The park is home to about 500 species of trees, many of which have adapted well to the local climate. These include native Caucasian species such as hornbeam, oriental beech, Caucasian oak, Scots pine, and wild pear, as well as exotic species like California sequoia, Siberian pine, Japanese cryptomeria, European magnolia, and larch, among others.

As one of the first forest parks in the Transcaucasian region, The best time to visit is late spring or early summer, especially May, when the tree-lined paths are in bloom and the mild pollen levels are said to ease asthma symptoms—many allergy-prone visitors come during this period for that reason.

The park is also stunning in autumn, when vibrant colors transform the landscape, and in winter, when snowfall blankets the area in white.
