The Yerevan Museum of Modern Art was founded in 1972 through the efforts of Henrik Igityan, who served as the museum’s director for 37 years. The best Armenian artists of the 1960s supported Igityan in establishing the museum. It is located on Mashtots Avenue at the central Kentron District of Yerevan.

Among them were Minas Avetisyan, Rudolf Khachatryan, Henrik Elibekyan, Hakob Hakobyan, and other prominent Armenian artists and sculptors. The museum also has a shop where visitors can purchase various works of art and catalogs.
