The private tour to Dilijan, Dilijan National Park, and Jhukhtak Monastery lasts around 8 to 9 hours, and all the sites are located in Tavush Province, about 1.5 hours’ drive from Yerevan.
1. Our first stop is Dilijan. Dilijan is a forested resort and spa town, often referred to as the “Armenian Switzerland” for its lush forests, cool climate, and fresh mountain air. Dilijan is also famous for its charming old town streets, cozy wooden balconies, and a unique atmosphere that makes visitors feel like they’ve stepped back in time.
2. The next stop is Dilijan National Park, established in 1958, covering an area of 34,000 hectares, with about 94 percent of its territory covered by forest. During the tour, you will walk through nature and have the chance to feed the deer.
3. Jukhtakavanq is also located within Dilijan National Park and will be our final stop. The monastery is surrounded by lush forest and quiet mountain trails. There’s an accessible hiking path that takes about 30 to 40 minutes to reach the site.

Your private driver and guide meet you at your hotel in Yerevan. The drive to Dilijan takes approximately 1.5 hours through the Sevan Pass and into the lush forested hills of Tavush Province.
Arrive in Dilijan - Armenia's most beloved forest town, known as the Armenian Switzerland. Walk through the beautifully restored Old Dilijan quarter on Sharambeyan Street with its 19th-century wooden balconied houses, artisan workshops and craft shops. The cleanest air in Armenia and a pace of life that feels like a different country.
Park Enter the national park covering 34,000 hectares of ancient forest. Walk the forest trails with your guide through oak, beech and hornbeam woodland. Depending on the season you may see deer, rare birds and wild orchids. The park connects to the Transcaucasian Trail - one of the great long-distance hiking routes of the Caucasus.
The hidden highlight of this tour - and the reason it differs from every other Dilijan day trip. Jukhtakavanq, meaning Double Monastery, is a small 11th-century monastic complex just 3.2 km from Dilijan town along a forest trail. Almost completely unknown to tourists, the two ancient stone churches are slowly being reclaimed by the surrounding forest — moss on the walls, trees growing through the ruins, a profound sense of time passed. Your guide will tell the story of these churches and the monks who built them among the hills of medieval Armenia. A genuinely moving and atmospheric place.
Optional lunch at a local restaurant in Dilijan. Can be added in Extras when booking.
A relaxed return walk through the national park back toward Dilijan, with stops for photos and fresh mountain air.
