Tour to Manukyan Winery, Lake Sevan, Mikayelyan Farm, and Hayravank is ideal for culinary enthusiasts who also want to enjoy scenic views and learn about Armenian history. All these sites are located in the Gegharkunik region, and the first stop is about 1 hour and 15 minutes’ drive from Yerevan.
1. The first stop is a wine tasting and excursion at Manukyan Winery. Manukyan Winery began wine production in 2016, with the goal of creating high-quality wines using local grapes, European technology, and the latest methodologies. What makes their wines unique is the careful selection of grape varieties and their distinct character. During the excursion, you’ll taste several wines that highlight the territory and grape type — for example, some grape varieties can be identified from the very first sip.
2. The next stop is Lake Sevan, the largest natural lake in Armenia. Here, you’ll have a chance to visit the Sevan Peninsula and Sevanavank Monastery, founded in the 9th century. Lake Sevan covers a surface area of 5,000 square km, with a maximum length of 74 km and maximum width of 32 km.
3. The next experience is cheese tasting at Mikayelyan Family Farm, where you’ll witness the traditional Armenian cheese-making process, watch artisans at work, and enjoy various cheese types served with fresh local greens and herbs.
4. Then we’ll make a short stop at Hayravank Monastery, located on the shore of Lake Sevan. This medieval monastery stands next to the ruins of a Cyclopean fortress, the remains of which are still visible from the site.
The tour lasts around 6 to 7 hours, after which we return to Yerevan.
