Swan Lake in Yerevan, located near the Opera House, is a beautiful spot for tourists, offering charming views, a relaxing atmosphere, and a perfect place to enjoy the city’s vibe.
In the 1960s, in an effort to improve the hot and humid climate of Yerevan, city authorities began creating reservoirs in recreation areas. The first of these projects was Swan Lake—a scaled-down version of Lake Sevan—built in 1963.
The architectural concept was designed by Gevorg Musheghyan, and it was from this reservoir that the formation of a system of artificial lakes began, bringing a sense of freshness and aesthetic completeness to the city.
Swan Lake is located at the intersection of Tumanyan and Teryan streets, near the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. It got its name in honor of Tchaikovsky’s famous ballet Swan Lake.
In the Soviet era, both white and black swans could be seen in the pond. In winter, the lake transforms into a skating rink, becoming a seasonal favorit for locals and visitors alike.
